Notre Dame (9) vs Louisville
Monday, September 2 nd, 8:00 PM in Cardinal Stadium
Swinging Johnson: This week Doug Upstone and render our school football selections on the Monday night match between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Louisville Cardinals and I will deviate from our regularly scheduled plan of NFL debate to dip our feet into uncharted waters.
It will probably be the first and only time this season we do so, as the previous week of exhibition NFL soccer is somewhat lackluster in comparison to some regular-season sport of NCAA soccer featuring one of the top clubs in the nation, and a mythical football program to boot up, Notre Dame.
Without further ado, let us start the debate after my friend Doug Upstone got the best of me last week while I supported the Titans. We have been placing wins forth and back so it appears like it is my turn to the golden wreath, as I will follow each of the squares laying the lumber on a road favorite and endorse the Irish.
After reviewing the college football odds nearly six days prior to this Monday night affair, I see the lineup has spiked a half-point about the preferred, opening at Notre Dame -19 1/2 to where it is presently offered in a solid -20 round the board at all of the best online sportsbooks.
You are currently leaning on the Cardinals although I love the Irish. Aside from the venue do you believe Louisville will hang with the boys?
Doug Upstone: Yes a successful win and at least IMO, it said a lot about the Steelers and Titans direction. Lets move ahead to real soccer, so will our recordings on this one and where the matches rely.
Remember those Thursday night games Louisville used to perform against opponents? They held their engineered and own several upsets. These were fun games to see and also the Cardinals were an exciting club.
However, for example the former Papa Johns Stadium and its fake (in real life) owner, Louisville football last season was worse than a three-day-old pizza.
Scott Satterfield worked miracles at Appalachian State and will be out to alter the civilization and win matches. This wont happen immediately as the ability level is down in theVille. This is a major moment for Louisville, a team that has the chance to start taking actions.
I have read where the Cards coaches have sped up the slow mechanisms of QB Jawon Pass (great name for a QB) and that I like Hassan Hall since the direct running back. Than using a ticket for the Colts at OVER 9 for season 23, the protection which makes me more worried. Why you have your Irish up please do tell.
Swinging Johnson: The Cardinals wont be doing as the Notre Dame defense will keep them snug in their nest flying in this match. Scott Satterfield is in the big leagues and hes got a group coming off of a dismal record last year where they went winless in ACC action. This rebuild is akin to taking a hot air balloon and attempting to turn it.
While that may eventually happen, the problem is that Louisville is confronting a team that made it into the CFP last year and possessed one of the stingiest defenses in all of college football, devoting only 17.2 points within the normal season and moving a perfect 12-0 till they met Clemson in the CFP semifinals. The Irish offense was clicking on all cylinders also, averaging over 33 points per match.
My issue is, just how will be a quarterback like traveling who is slow to discharge, supposed to gain some traction against a shield? Particularly when hes working with a completely new offensive scheme and a new coach?
Please, Doug, save me I am lost! I find no way, shape or form where Louisville is going to have the ability to keep pace with the Golden Domers and Im desperate for the brand new wisdom and prodigious handicapping expertise!
Doug Upstone: Well, Swinger, Im pleased to read in your last sentence youre coming over to the bright side of sport betting, or you are simply being the exact shrewd a** you usually are. Ill allow the SBR readers that are making school football picks decide on this. Im the first to realize Louisville was, however 1-11 ATS and fully pumped final year.
Just like he gave up around the Atlanta Falcons but coach Bobby Petrino was given up on by that staff COMPLETELY. A trainer brings a fresh mindset on making a statement, and this being a national game, his team will be sold by Satterfield. Louisville does need to hope the Irish will take them and never have much fight.
Lets also consider, Brian Kelly using gold and the blue is ATS as a road favorite, also if dishing out 20 or more digits, a ATS. That defense you mentioned might improve as the year progresses but replacing five starters, if you dont/cant recruit like Bama or Clemson, it will take some time.
Swinging Johnson: Well Doug, I was being a bit facetious because although youve got an handicapping resume, you miss the mark from time to time. And in this situation, you happen to be shooting blanks because Louisville might be greater but I would submit that they could be trained with a Rhesus monkey and enhance upon their deplorable record left by an awkward coach like Petrino.
I know that placing nearly 3 touchdowns on the street is square biz for certain along with Joe Q. Public never got rich by betting the heavy street chalk, but at times the general public is right, and in this instance they definitely are. Until when we get down on our NFL Game of the Week next week, let us see what happens on Monday night once the Irish come prepared to rumble in Louisville.
Free College Football Pick: Swinging Johnson — Notre Dame -20 (-110)
Free College Football Pick: Doug Upstone — Louisville +20 (-110)

Boxing: Joshua vs Miller Betting Odds and Prediction

Among the baddest men on the planet is set to make his USA debut as Anthony”AJ” Joshua stands toe to toe with Jarrell”Big Baby” Miller in Madison Square Garden on June 1. Joshua is defending his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles, and is a -850 preferred to retain his titles, while Miller is coming back as a +525 underdog. Both hitters may enter the ring.

Odds Analysis
Miller was a massive favored in his last eight fights, closing as a four-digit favorite in six of these bouts, together with his lowest chances being -250 when he fought Gerald Washington in July 2017 — a struggle Miller won through eighth-round retirement.

Meanwhile, Joshua has been a favorite in each of the last seven scraps and his odds for this battle are right across the average with his largest odds being when he battled Eric Molina (-4000). The tightest odds AJ has had was when he fought Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA and IBO heavyweight straps — the England native closed at -200 for this particular bout.

AJ retains three of the four major heavyweight titles and, at age 29, he is in the prime of his career so that it comes as no surprise that he’s a large favorite to conquer Big Baby, who’s making a large jump in competition.

How will this battle perform?
Joshua (-850) is placing his best 22-0 record at stake, coming from an impressive seventh-round TKO victory over Alexander Povetkin in September of last year. Before that knockout victory, AJ went to the judges’ scorecards for the first time in his professional career with Joseph Parker, snapping his streak of 20 straight wins by T/KO.

The Brit always disturbs his opponents, taking the center of this ring and then slowly backing them down looking to land his powerful right hand. Joshua also does a fantastic job feeling his selection with his long left jab that he works well behind, once again looking to land his own thunderous right. Additionally, he has a great ability at judging distances and will sit just outside of his competitors’ range but close enough that he can spring ahead with a counterattack.

Miller (+525) is also seeking to remain undefeated in his professional career, with just four conflicts going the distance, among them end in a draw after four rounds in 2013. Of Enormous Baby’s 23 specialist wins, 20 have been by knockout, including his last two. The New York native went the full 12 rounds with Johann Duhaupas in April of this past year, ending his string of nine consecutive bouts with knockout victories.

The orthodox fighter uses his large frame to walk down his enemies searching for a chance to fire his thick right hand. Big Baby has terrifying knockout power in his hands, but his punches are slow and he lunges ahead behind his left jab to close the distance.

AJ is clearly the more athletic boxer and he will need to use that rate and motion to pick apart Miller in the outside before he will find his openings to perform harm. Meanwhile, Large Baby will get to put himself in real danger to conquer the reach disadvantage he is going to confront and get in close to allow his hands fly. Overall, I think that AJ is simply going to be too hard to hit and should be able to deal with this battle easily.

Belle’s Best Bets: Kentucky Derby Prop Bets

If it comes to the Kentucky Derby, there has been a very clear evolution in how complicated wagers can be, and how you can almost bet on any type of impact on Derby day. We have moved far beyond just choosing a winner along with a second-place finisher and moved into head-to-head wagers, bets on racing fractions, duration of success, in addition to stakes like just how many Tweets President Donald Trump will create. Although I tend to find myself trying to rationalize and come up with quantifiable amounts to support my bet, who knows what will occur after three Mint Julep’s and being down $300 before the real race even begins?
Here are three of my favorite proposition wagers for your Kentucky Derby:
How many lengths would be winner win by? Over 1.5 (-160), or Under 1.5 (+120)
The Kentucky Derby was decided by less than one span on 42 events. On the opposite conclusion, the Derby was obtained by four lengths or more 23 times.
Within this year’s run for the roses there appears to be a lot of speed horses entered, or at least horses that tend to prefer the front end. With lots of vying for early positioning, a potential pace duel might appear upfront. If that is true, then it has a tendency to benefit horses that are sitting just off the speed, and gives a reasonable shot for a few of the heavy closers to run down the frontrunners in the stretch.
The most likely case scenario for this bet to cash would be for quicker fractions upfront and a bunched-up finish at the cord. In a field as competitive and closely matched as this one, there’s a lot of value in taking the underdog alternative for the margin of length success.
Will any horse win two of three Triple Crown Races? No (-175), or Yes (+135)
The odds with this have changed since Justify became the 13th Triple Crown winner ever. Since 2002 there have been numerous near misses — six — with War Emblem, Funny Cide, Smarty Jones, Big Brown, I Will Have Another, and California Chrome.
Triple Crown winners tend to come in bunches together with three winners in the 1930s, four in 1940s, and three in the 1970s. This tendency seems to be really be factored into the likelihood of this bet, as well as the recency bias of Justify capturing the bid this past year.
With the Kentucky Derby field as wide open as it has been in years, and without a overwhelming favorite — cash on a simple proposition wager this weekend and wager the”No.”
The Last Place Saddlecloth Number Will be? Odd (-200), or (+160)
This number appears to overvalue the simple fact that the longest shot on the board brings post 15. Even though there are just two 50-1 morning-line runners, the Japanese horse #15 Master Fencer will probably go off at higher odds than that in the call to the post.
Despite who performs or underperforms based on their likelihood, the most likely last-place finisher is a runner that records a DNF or must pull up. This can often happen because of unforeseeable circumstances and is something you cannot handicap for. Assuming that the race has been run easily, five of the 10 runners in 20-1 odds or greater will be breaking out of a gate having an even saddlecloth number. In +160, that appears to be a lot of worth to choose a 50/50 proposition bet.
Fantastic luck this weekend, and revel in the”most exciting two minutes in sport!”

Real Madrid heads into the new season with more questions than answers

(CNN) — Zinedine Zidanes second coming Real Madrid proved the Frenchman isnt a wonder worker.
When he returned as coach, he also was supposed to supply answers to some season.
From the time Zidane had been reappointed in March, two managers — Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari — were and gone in the blink of the eye.
Fast forward to the conclusion of the season and Real Madrid had dropped 17 games in all competitions and finished 19 points making it the Los Blancos facet.
Actual dropped four of Zidanes 11 games but his first spell gained him the benefit of the doubt with the clubs board.
However, because La Liga shouts off Athletic Club beat Barcelona on Friday — doubts still linger over Zidanes man management skills, his tactical nous and whether or not the success of his first bout has been down to 11 players human brilliance — notably Cristiano Ronaldos persistent goalscoring feats.
I think the principal victory of Zidane in the previous years has been Cristiano Ronaldo and he is not in Madrid anymore, Catalunya Radio journalist Ernest Macia told CNN Sport.
So today we will see the true Zidane. The folks here in Madrid said:The Real Madrid of Zinedine Zidane, it was the Real Madrid of Cristiano Ronaldo. Today well see how hard its to manage, to master a dressing room like Real Madrid — especially when results are not good.
Hes a great deal of credit since he won three Champions Leagues, but it will depend not only on the results but on how Real Madrid plays. Contrary to Barcelona, which is a club having a doctrine and DNA, Real is a club that welcomes cash to win titles.

A — which has contained a and the ongoing feud with Gareth Bale of Zidane has added doubt to an historic period in the club.
Its been widely reported that the Frenchman will now keep both Bale and James Rodriguez from the group against his own fantasies, as Actual failed to land his own No. 1 midfielder goal Paul Pogba.
Actual President Florentino Perez has reportedly clashed over their future functions with Zidane, and has been believed to be a lover of James — and the Welshman — coming into his defense on a number of events during his time at the club.
Zinedine Zidane wanted Pogba at any cost, Macia said. When he was asked:Okay, if Pogba isnt possible, another player? He said:Pogba.
Of course it is a major disappointment if Pogba stays [at Manchester United], hell need to locate answers someplace else. Hes been given three of four different choices and he is unhappy with Bale, who is a participant who makes a huge difference but he has hurt very frequently.
A couple of summer signings will need time and Zidane has continued to show preference to what he sees as his old defender that is trusted.
Karim Benzema looks set to start the season up front ahead of new $60 million ($66.5M) striker Luka Jovic, although doubts remain regarding the role summer marquee signing Eden Hazard will play.
Actual announced Friday the Belgian superstar has suffered a hamstring injury and will miss Saturdays season opener against Celta Vigo, to make matters worse.
Stalwart Marcelo will probably be preferred at left back to exciting youthful signing Ferland Mendy, as will Raphael Varane instead of $50 million ($55M) signing Eder Militao to associate captain Sergio Ramos at the core of defense.
I dont see them winning a lot more titles, Macia explained. In Europe they have big competitions, in La Liga they have Barcelona which is well settled. It will return to this project is grown by Real Madrid.
With fresh players, notably the registering of Hazard, and also how they create the transition in the old ones — such as Modric in midfield — along with the newcomers. I believe that Real has got the players to get it done but Im not sure that Zidane is your guy.
I think it will be quite difficult for him and his new time there will be more challenging compared to the previous four years.

Champions League obsession
Barcelonas settled side would be the favourite to keep its La Liga title with Atletico Madrid undergoing the squad overhaul — an exciting one — at the eight-year predominate of Diego Simeone.
The $120 million ($132M) registering of Antoine Griezmann from guide rival Atleti and the arrival of precocious talent Frenkie de Jong from Ajax has augmented an already world class group.
Barcelonas focus this season will be on the Champions League, a contest it has not won because 2015 and has since crashed out of in fashion the past two seasons.
