Mick Fitzgerald previews the Long Distance Cup at Ascot

The Mick Fitzgerald of sky Sports Racing Gives his verdict about the players at Saturdays Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup .

A race which was and was referred to as the Jockey Club Cup conducted in its current guise as the Extended Distance Cup at 2011.
Fame And Glory was the first winner when Order Of St George chose the prize in 32, when booming under trainer Aidan OBrien and Jamie Spencer landed it.
Irish trainers have dominated the race, with Dermot Weld also gaining two successes using Rite Of Passage (2012) and Forgotten Rules (2014) and sandwiched between these successes Johnny Murtagh added his name to the roll of honour with Royal Diamond.
John Gosden is yet another to bag a brace with Flying Officer (2015) and also Stradivarius (2018) and the champions board is completed by Sheikhzayedroad who was successful for David Simcock (2016).
Astonishingly, no horse has won the race and winner of his last 10 starts, Stradivarius and his final defeat, fulfilled with in this race as a three-year-old in 2017 when third, beaten a period, to Order.
Any horse that wins in the Royal meeting and comes with Ascot form that is good needs to be admired when winning the Queen Alexandra Stakes from 32, and this horse looked great. Hes maintained on operating in France by Dee Ex Bee and he does not hit you. That was off a mark of 90 although he was second at Salisbury.
Because I was there in Chester when he ran in the Ormonde Stakes you struggle a bit with Kew Gardens and there was no doubt hed come on for the run and he got comprehensively beaten by Morando whos a. It is his run today although I think you have to put that race down to him not being fit and he has no explanations.
After a fantastic run when finishing second from the Coronation at Epsom it was disappointing too see him finish second in the Irish St Leger but afterward he had been giving 12lb to a rapidly improving filly in Search For A Song, who was provided a brilliant trip by Chris Hayes.
Back with this floor Kew Gardens at the prices is the horse that could take advantage of any openings from Stradivarius.
You then see that race he won at Haydock on ground that is quite awful and you think well hes not without a opportunity, although hes not good enough When you look at his form on its face. The 2 races have been on that and heavy earth of this horse may count for a whole lot.
Sir Michael Stoute knows a thing or two about this sport and the fact he is willing to pitch him here needs to be carried on board.
Each time hes run on earth although he was second to Dee Ex Bee at Sandown , he has become successful. Some of them cope than many others and he falls into that category.
Hes clearly a stablemate of Stradivarius after winning the November Handicap year off a marker of 105 on earth, and he looked good. He is horse thats been kept because five-year-old in training and if you take a look at his form hes won heavy in Haydock as a three-year-old that is a plus.
He hasnt been over-raced this season and this will be his third run, so that he comes much fresher than many of these.
You may need to inquire whether he would remain the excursion, but he travelled so easily that he was never going to have beat at any stages and he could enjoy stepping up to 2 miles.
He had been disappointing supporting Stradivarius but had formerly been a fantastic winner at the Royal assembly and has been well-regarded by the Coolmore team. He failed to conquer Constantinople in the King George V Handicap, however hes a little to find to create an impression in this race. You would be amazed if he was good.
This horse is really a winning system and incredibly he has won the Weatherbys Hamilton Stayers bonus for another year in the Yorkshire Cup, Ascot Gold Cup, Goodwood Cup and Lonsdale Cup. After walking the course on Saturday morning he appears bombproof and it is just a matter of Gosden ahead.
Two decades ago, when this horse was a three-year-old was the last time this horse was beat and the decision to switch to the inner track on less testing going could well make life somewhat easier for Stradivarius, that obtained that past year on soft ground.
So far as talent goes and the remainder of it, hes just a machine that is winning. He has only won on a few events this season for example winning a period in the Gold Cup and winning a neck, but did ever think he was at risk of defeat?
He brings a very good handicap form into the race. Having won the Northumberland Plate very from Prince Of Arran he moved over to Australia in which he was disappointing but has come back better than ever this year.
He won nicely at Newbury and his blood would end up after beating on School six spans in a race at Newmarket last time.
I think that he is extremely interesting and he comes a relatively lightly-raced horse with just few outings this season.
You would like to observe winners crowned and it is known as British Champions Day because of this and its rather safe to say that STRADIVARIUS is this stayers divisions winner. The race will be conducted on the internal track so hell win but if they had run it onto the track where it would be testing it could have given the others a opportunity. I believe Withhold and also Kew Gardens will make up for the areas.

Topics discussed at the video contain….
– The way the transition was managed by players from watching Botham as their hero to becoming his team-mate – and even his room-mate!

UFC 231: Holloway vs. Ortega staff picks and predictions

The Bloody Elbow team has filed its forecasts for UFC 231, and while everyone who wrote something up chosen Max Holloway over Brian Ortega, entire opinion is fairly divided. In terms of the co-main event, again things are split as to who will prevail involving Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Valentina Shevchenko. It is excellent to have toss-up title fights such as these two, is not it?
Notice: Predictions are entered during the week and gathered the day before the event. Explanations behind each pick aren’t required and a few authors elect not to do this for their own reasons. By way of example, if Phil Mackenzie entered all of his predictions on Wednesday without adding in any explanations, he has no idea if he is going to be the only one siding with a single fighter for any specific fight.
Max Holloway vs. Brian Ortega
Anton Tabuena: This really is fairly straightforward to me. Barring any weird health issues, Max Holloway should fully run via Ortega here. Holloway is just better and a lot more dangerous than all the other folks Ortega has beaten. This is obviously still MMA and Ortega has proven that he has decent power, but he certainly won’t pick apart someone as technically proficient as Holloway. I think this will look a good deal like Ortega’s past bouts, but he will take a far worse beating and won’t have the ability to fix that magic comeback. Max Holloway by TKO.
Mookie Alexander: There is a level of unsustainability to Ortega’s love of finishing fights over winning rounds, and Holloway is a masterful round winner. I am obviously assuming we are getting the ideal edition of Max Holloway, so that’s the key here. Ortega has grown tremendously as a striker, but until this stage, Holloway has shown a ridiculous chin and he is probably not the person who you want to take part in a high-paced brawl with. Ortega loves the leaping guillotine, I suspect Holloway will be ready for that, and he is a damn good grappler in his own right. Takedowns are unlikely on both sides, and Ortega specifically has revealed himself to be not particularly great at shooting down his opponents in the first place. While Ortega is extremely dangerous based on what we’ve seen out of him in recent conflicts, I trust Holloway to do more damage and prevent the timeless Ortega comeback. Max Holloway by decision.
Zane Simon: Ortega’s fight against Frankie Edgar was something of a revelation. He has always been tricky, always been reckless, but that has been the first time that his striking fashion – assembled around a lot slicker moves and frequently a lack of basic ones – has looked like a whole game. He worked behind the jab, feinted, drew out predictable answers and changed up his entries to club Frankie to unconsciousness. It was damn pretty. Additionally, it suggests that it’s difficult to say just how much more improved Ortega could be now. Without seeing more variety and consistency into his game, and without seeing an ability to keep output over multiple hard hitting rounds, I need to pick Holloway. His ability to push a pace then to up that pace as his opponents tire, his capacity to change targets in conjunction and start up new mixtures off earlier, easier ones, just are not abilities that Ortega has revealed yet. And Ortega still has a background of dropping rounds he hasn’t finished the fight in. Even with Max’s health scare, the majority of the questions are on Ortega’s side and most of the replies are around Holloway’s. Max Holloway by choice.
Victor Rodriguez: Neither guy will be looking to take the other down, and Holloway’s clinch game is deadly. Having said that, Ortega’s been a man I have counted out in a lot of fights, I feel stupid picking him against him. He should have a range disadvantage and Max’s frenetic pace should make this difficult for him because of volume, but Ortega doesn’t get hit that much and seems to keep finding ways to pull a rabbit out of his hat. I want to pick Ortega by diving for a flying armbar from a clinch scenario, but that is a little reckless for me personally. And while I am still concerned about the fact that we don’t understand what health concerns Holloway had last time, it seems that the man that wears harm well and contains a more comprehensive and written approach to his strikes need to be able to take over as the battle continues on and employ pressure accordingly. Max Holloway by decision.
