Former England striker Michael Owen’s row with Alan Shearer this past week, and the break has been spiced by complaint of both David Beckham.
Owen was criticised by Shearer for comments he made in his newest book about linking Newcastle United, before he struck back by questioning his former team and worldwide team-mate’s devotion to the Magpies.
In his new book, reboot – My Life, My Time, Owen claims that he still holds some resentment towards Beckham for getting shipped off in a World Cup last-16 game against Argentina in 1998, which England lost on penalties.
BBC Sport requested his best to be named by Owen England XI – because his introduction in 1998. Himself wasn’t picked by the 39-year-old , but read on to check if Shearer and Beckham left the trim – and have your say in the end of the article.
Because for a long time today that formation has been suited by England players, I would definitely go for a 3-5-2. Look below Terry Venables at Euro 96 and in France in the 1998 World Cup, once we had been a dazzling team and should’ve gone farther, with Glenn Hoddle as manager. We went through a bit of a disastrous period and it coincided with 4-4-2 and variations of it.
I recall playing with the England team and we’d Paul Scholes as a left midfielder and things like that. It was fairly obvious that 3-5-2 is that the formation that we have to have adopted and that knows just how far we would have gone in certain eras.
So we’re suited for this In the final World Cup, Gareth Southgate went back to 3-5-2. Glenn Hoddle are the manager, no question, since he and 3-5-2 play too.
This is probably a place where we haven’t been in our strongest. I would say David Seaman is the best goalkeeper over the last couple of decades. He was a safe pair of handson. At Euro 96 he awakened. He was also a top-class goalkeeper.
Someone like David James has more – but the consistency of Seaman is exactly what made him a very good goalkeeper. I was just with him but he had been a calming effect.
Sol Campbell: Sol has been an superb player. He had strength, pace and a fantastic reading of the match. I’d say he was good on the ball because another two however, in terms of defending got him outside. He might score goals and was very courageous, really good. He was solid as a stone as a centre-half.
You may have a joke with Sol as well although he is pretty severe. Everyone’s different. There are 23 players, which means you don’t get everyone when you match England. He surely could defend and rose into the big occasion.
About is Rio Ferdinand rio Ferdinand: If you’re referring to classy players of the people that you think. He was the Rolls-Royce of this footballing game really. He made everything look simple, a little bit like Liverpool centre-back Virgin van Dijk now as it’s almost like he is not even trying and is in 2nd gear all the time. He could’ve easily played midfield, he was good on the ball. He had been exceptional.
He was not one of those who utilized to liquefy his entire body make a block. Every single performance written and was measured – nine from 10 all the time. He scored from the next round against Denmark at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea – but I tease him about it all the time and it was definitely a personal goal.
He didn’t score too many targets and, even it was probably that, if I were able to criticise Rio in one way. I really don’t believe coming up for corners sticking his head but he was a well-oiled machine.
John Terry: John was an awesome player. You never saw him get trapped out although he didn’t have was speed. A reader of the game – just a pleasure to see. You would train with him and he would take your breath away how great he was for a centre-half. I’m not being patronising to centre-halves but, generally, they were not as good on the ball as he had been.
John would toss his body into everything. He would block, he’d win every header. He had been just a who was brilliant on the ball. Occasionally I really think he was under-rated. He had been absolutely outstanding.
He was certainly among the bubblier personalities, clearly a leader. He was talking and inviting and he had been the voice.
David Beckham: It was hard to leave Gary Neville out because he was amazing. But I’m likely to put David Beckham in as, well, just look in his limits, his England record and a number of his amazing moments. He was a famous person in the dressing area from the pitch but and around the group, he had been one of those lads.
He chased a skill that has been rather unique in the time: how he crossed the ballthe way he had that form of dip and whip. He had nearly a top-spinning bend on his free-kicks and corners. He wanted to take a touch and blend it quickly, which is.
In my book, I commend to high heaven but when I mentioned to you asked you whether David Beckham did exactly the right point in 1998 by kicking someone what do you say? He did not. He has sent off. It wasn’t my fault, the fans’ or even yours. He even made a mistake.
Would be that he made an error and that harmed our opportunities – it did. That isn’t likely to get in my group and does not mean he’s not a wonderful player.
Ashley Cole: Ashley Cole was considered at one time as the very best left-back in the world. Everybody recalls the time he declared Cristiano Ronaldo from the 2004 European Championship – he was simply outstanding in that game.
He was modern day wing-back: a defender who will also get. He had the electricity and legs to be in a position to do that, and wing-back probably suited him well. He was talkative without being on mind. He was certainly reasonably vocal, although he wasn’t the John Terry-leader style. He was an absolute pleasure from the squad.
Steven Gerrard: I played some wonderful players – Zinedine Zidane was away from the scale in terms of pure ability – however, if I was playing the biggest match of my life tomorrow, the first person I’d probably take into battle is Stevie. He could do everything. He was enormous his stride was huge and he simply used to devour ground.
He was too powerful and too large for his opponents, an amazing passer of the ball, he could dribble, score objectives, shield, tackle and head. There wasn’t anything really he couldn’t do. Should you ask him to sit because he is just too good for it, the only thing you could expose him is.
I can’t provide any higher praise than that to him.
We were mates that are large. I joined Liverpool at 11 and we played with in exactly the same team right the way through. We grew up playing alongside each other. We know one another’s games possibly more . We had that sixth feeling . I believe he’s genuinely one of the best England payers to have lived.
Paul Scholes: he played a level that is different to many and Everybody says Paul is a genius of an individual player. You have got to understand the sport along with the nuances of disguise for one to perform with Scholesy, since he is forever looking the other way. You believe you have not been seen by him and he then whips one round the corner into your toes.
You got to be on you toes with Scholesy. He’s presuming a step ahead of most people – and you could make him look a bad player because he will end up giving away the ball as you are currently dreaming about something!
He was gifted, scored goals and needed a radar of a pass. He was so unassuming. He was first off the training ground. Once I finished training, I had been needing to get in the shower, have my lunch and receive home – but at the time I’d got to the dressing room, Scholesy had already had a shower and moved. He was evasive.
Frank Lampard: Frank record is incredible. To have a midfielder scoring for that amount of goals is very rare and this alone, he gets in my group. He deserves the maximum praise for getting and devotion the most from his profession like Beckham in several ways.
He practised and practised. As you’ve Scholes, who is just a pure genius made to play soccer, you have got folks like Frank and David who were there after coaching hitting balls and refining their abilities.
Unfortunately, plenty of people questioned if the partnership that was Lampard-Gerrard could work collectively, because they were both too excellent and it was likely. It had been too tempting to get ahead that we didn’t have as much subject in the middle of midfield.
When we had an extra body, such as a Scholesy, I think they would have flourished – Scholesy {almost sitting and enjoying the function then Frank and S

Jeff Reinebold’s NFL Week 2 Tips

Hey Aloha that is Jeff Reinebold coming for Oddschecker for you. Week 2 of the National Football League is going to kick off!
Here are the matches that I think are games to play with and here’s the way I see every fixture of the weekend coming out all of the way during Monday night.
Chargers @ Lions
I enjoy the Chargers, I believe the Chargers have a far greater entire roster. Ty Long, my ex-kicker, had. He had been the player of the week of the AFC special team so I enjoy the Chargers in this one.
Arizona??Cardinals @ Baltimore Ravens
Cardinals were better but they’ve got a long way to go. I believe that the Ravens are a dynamic team on defence. If Lamar Jackson could continue to throw the ball the way he did last week the Ravens are going to become a real good football team by time. I enjoy the Ravens.
Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee??Titans
Close to one, this is going to be a close friend. The crucial thing is , can the Titans play with the same amount they did last week. I believe Titans within this one although last year they had been an inconsistent team, this can be a test for them at the Colts.
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
Packers are favourites from a Vikings team which played tremendous week at home but now they need to go to Lambeau Field. I believe this is out of, I don’t enjoy the play. I think the Vikings could go into Lambeau and defeat the Packers, along with the Packers may show that mystique they seem to have in that arena. Stay out of the game.
Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Seahawks have a tough task on their hands, they still all have to fly across the country three times to overcome the Steelers. Difficult to beat the Steelers were humiliated last week in Foxborough, I search for the Steelers to rebound back into this one.
Buffalo Bills @ New York??Giants
The battle of this New York country groups. Bills played awful in the first half last week against the Jets, now they’ve got to visit another New York team. They’re likely to need to play with two halves of soccer to beat against the Giants. I will take the Giants.
New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
I really don’t know what the point is on this one because the Patriots are likely to have after the Dolphins. They’ve played well in South Florida historically, that’s where they have had some critical losses. I can’t see this season, Dolphins simply have too much of a depleted roster.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders
Really like this game. One of those teams they love to hate is that the Raiders after working I’m likely to tell you some thing. Last week patrick Mahomes played fantastic, I search for it to continue. I think that Derek Carr’s going to have to have a game for the Raiders to really have a opportunity. However, I like the Chiefs within this one.
Chicago Bears @ Denver Broncos
Big game for Vic Fangio, the head coach. His previous team is coming into town. The Bears are having to obtain their offence. It should be difficult at the Mile High City against a Broncos team that should they can locate their pass rush have a likelihood of being a defence that is genuine. I understand the Bears are favourites but I think the Broncos will win this match.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons
Take the Eagles. Falcons looked a week up in Minnesota. I think that the Eagles are a fantastic football team although they’ll be better at home.
Cleveland Browns @ New York Jets
This is one I really like, this will be an excellent Monday nighter. The Jets in the home against the Browns. Both teams dropped in the first weekend, and both teams need wins. Freddie Kitchens the Browns’ head coach is coaching against his old head coach Gregg Williams. They’re going to match wits in a match I think can be a really outstanding football match. I enjoy the Browns. I presume a week, that Baker Mayfield can bounce back for his three interceptions in the fourth quarter. Choose the Browns.
You’re able to back all of Jeff’s Week 2 picks! Add them all to a bet slip below.

NFL Football Picks: Week 3 Fades

However, with the point spreads we’re seeing them on and the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets are playing, it is starting to seem more like the NBA on any given night. With certain NFL odds high that the matches are almost not worth betting. Obviously, one may shoot flyer at a week, that’s tough, but for a set of Top Plays or for a Best Bets on each 17 or more points.
How this hampers us for NFL picks is that decreases the amount of alternatives we have, that can and does happen in December, but not in September.
With a little extra effort, we have three street teams to evaporate in Week 3 for NFL picks.
Both teams averted using come from behind wins, and 0-2 start. It shouldn’t have been that difficult with the Eagles offense played two and half quarters though Atlanta got the win over Philadelphia.
Indianapolis has shown they are simply about Andrew Luck plus they have penalizing run game and a tremendous offensive line. Is shutdown, although the Colts defense is top of the line.
Against the Dirty Birds, play Together with Atlanta 5-14 ATS on 0-8 ATS from the AFC and the road the last few years.
Free Pick: Fade Falcons +2 (-115) with YouWager
Sunday, Sept. 22, 4:05 pm ET (FOX) – in State Farm Stadium
Free Choice: Fade Panthers -2.5 (-115) with BetOnline
There are reports he may not play against Arizona with Cam Newton with reinjured his foot which happened in Week 3 of the preseason. With nobody actually sure what will happen, gambling markets are holding stable as of Wednesday afternoon (pay attention for upgrades ) with Carolina in -2.5.
If the Cam-ster were to play he wouldn’t be one and 100 percent can surmise that might explain why he had been inaccurate in the loss unable to push the ball.
Regardless, Newton or maybe, Arizona has performed well enough to possibly be 2-0 with greater efficiency in the red zone. That’s the 1 element of rookie quarterbacks that is usually true, they could assist the ball moves but in tight distances, it is not possible for them to create that pinpoint throw and proper choice that leads to a touchdown.
The Panthers just don’t look right and are 2-9 ATS off an upset loss as a home favorite. In case you agree with us, take the points today for NFL picks, because if Newton is finally”out”, the lineup will change.
Free Pick: Insulation Panthers -2.5 (-115) using BetOnline
Sunday, Sept. 22, 4:25 pm ET (CBS) – at Levi’s Stadium
Free Choice: Fade Steelers +6.5 (-115) with 5Dimes
The Steelers are in trouble. The loss of Ben Roethlisberger is asking a lot while they promised to feel comfortable after not needing Le’Veon Bell and then Antonio Brown. This is Pittsburgh foundation for many seasons and to have them gone in a period of 18 matches, that’s a mountain to scale.
Insert from the Steelers have to face a rejuvenated and hot San Francisco squad in their home . The 49ers are averaging 36 PPG and if a few scores have come by the defense, they still are points and Pitt’s putrid defense is surrendering 30.5 PPG and is 28th in total defense.
Provide the 6.5 points as San Fran drops by double digits.
Free Pick: Fade Steelers +6.5 (-115) with 5Dimes

Writer/Handicapper Doug Upstone has been a documented 57-37, 60.6 percent at sports betting monitors in the NFL since last year. This year he’s started .500 with this guide and hopes to enhance. Follow his NFL selections here at SportsBookReview.com.

WHERE TO BET ON SPORTS IN THE USA

IS SPORTS BETTING LEGAL IN THE USA?

Until May 2018, gambling on sports in the USA was basically restricted to placing a wager in person at a sportsbook at Nevada. That all changed when the Skilled and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), also known as the Bradley Act, was struck down by the Supreme Court. Now that PASPA is lifeless, each state has the power to establish its own laws for online and in-person sports betting.
Laws and principles surrounding sports betting fluctuate from state to state. New Jersey, by way of example, moved extremely quickly and passed a law to allow legal sports gambling online and in person in June 2018. West Virginia and Pennsylvania now allow in-person betting but not online. Other states, such as California and New York, have yet to legalize sports wagering.

Neymar has been booed by his own supporters during his Paris St-Germain return against Strasbourg – an injury-time overhead-kick winner was scored by then.
The Brazil forward missed five matches to the opening as he attempted and failed to secure back a move to Barcelona.
He was booed by PSG ultras if he shot wide when his name was read before the match, when he touched the ball , when he shot a corner.
There was a mixture of boos and cheers once he scored the winner.
The aim of neymar was a sensational acrobatic volley from Abdou Diallo’s cross that went off the post.
Neymar was the ball in the internet for the second time minutes but it had been disallowed by the video assistant referee for offside.
There were chants and banners using vulgar language about Neymar, including a reference to the 20m euros he had said he would cover to be able to join Barcelona.
The forwards wanted to move back to Catalonia in the summertime, but Barcelona were not able to achieve an agreement.
He also missed the Trophee des Champions and opening four Ligue 1 games returning after the end of the transfer window.
There were PSG debuts such as striker Mauro Icardi along with goalkeeper Keylor Navas, on loan from Real Madrid and Inter Milan respectively, while Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera produced his Ligue 1 bow in the next half.
Neymar is going to probably likely be inaccessible for PSG match – Wednesday’s Champions League home game with Real Madrid – due to a European suspension.

NHL Props for the New Year

As we approach the conclusion of quite a tumultuous 2016, there’s a lot of people wondering what is on the horizon and if the grass is going to be greener on the other side. Sportsbooks are benefiting from our fascination and wonderment by providing us props relevant to this 2017 half of their 2016-17 NHL season.
BetWay is among the main culprits and is offering three intriguing propositions for the next half. I have broken down these props and discovered the worth for you so you won’t have to make it the New Year’s resolution to stop sports betting.
Will an Original Six team win the Stanley Cup?
I don’t love the worth of any of these props but this particular one has the best possibility of cashing. The Rangers, Canadiens and Blackhawks are sitting at prime position to finish the season close to the very top of their respective branches and the Bruins look like they may also enter the play if Tuukka Rask keeps up his insane play.
Even if all those groups make the playoffs, they’ll be just four of 16 teams vying for the Cup — giving an Original Six team a 25 percent chance to win. If the odds were fair, this prop would be paying out 4 to 1. I understand books have to protect themselves but I think they’re being somewhat greedy here. Will that a goaltender win the Hart Memorial Trophy?
Carey Price accomplished this feat in 2015 so it’s definitely possible. Nevertheless, there is plenty of variables going against the netminders bidding for the MVP trophy.
Factor No. 1: There are a lot of good goalies this season. Multiple crease occupiers such as Devan Dubnyk and Sergei Bobrovsky are playing from their heads at the moment, restricting the value of other goaltenders around the league. Those men’ numbers are like the ones being submitted by Price and Rask this season so unless one of those tendies breaks away from the pack in the second half, it’s not likely to occur.
Factor No. 2: Sidney Crosby is back. Sid has been the poster boy for the NHL ever since he was drafted back in 2004 and if the league gets a opportunity to anoint its own prince, it does. This was confirmed last season when Sid the Kid won the Conn Smythe despite Matt Murray carrying the Pens into the Cup as a rookie. Crosby is currently leading the league in goals and has a serious chance to win the Hart, Maurice Rocket Richard and Art Ross trophies.

Preakness 2018: Morning line odds have Justify as favorite

The field is set for the 143rd running of the Preakness Stakes. Eight horses will soon be competing on the next leg of the Triple Crown, although just Kentucky Derby winner Justify if opting for said Crown. And after Wednesday’s post position draw, we also have the most recent morning line odds.
As expected, Justify is your favorite at 1-2 chances (-200), together with Good Magic anticipated to be his best competition at 3-1 (+300). In other words, a $100 bet on Justify, as of these chances, pays $150, while a $100 wager on Good Magic overlooks $400.
Below, you may see the full morning line odds (listed in order of post ranking ).
2018 Preakness Stakes morning line odds
1. Quip (12-1)
2. Lone Sailor (15-1)
3. Sporting Chance (30-1)
4. Diamond King (30-1)
5. Great Magic (3-1)
6. Tenfold (20-1)
7. Justify (1-2)
8. Bravazo (20-1)
It is very surprising to see Bravazo in 20-1 (+2000) as the horse has had lots of fans and experts talking about him in the lead-up into the Preakness. Many thought he would be the top challenger to Justify after Great Magic, but the two of Quip (+1200) and Lone Sailor (+1500) have greater odds.
Justify also started the Kentucky Derby from the seventh article, and has been the favorite going into the race. The last horse to win the Preakness in the seventh spot was Lookin at Lucky at 2010. The fourth place is where Always Dreaming, the 2017 Derby winner, started and that Triple Crown bid finished with an eighth-place finish (out of 10).
The Preakness is the second and shortest of the three Triple Crown events, using a length of 9??1/2 furlongs. It is set for Saturday, May 19.

Boxing: Joshua vs Miller Betting Odds and Prediction

One of the baddest men on the planet is set to make his USA debut as Anthony”AJ” Joshua stands toe to toe with Jarrell”Big Baby” Miller in Madison Square Garden on June 1. Joshua is defending his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles, and is a -850 preferred to retain his names, while Miller is coming back as a +525 underdog. Both hitters will enter the ring with records.

Odds Analysis
Miller has been a massive favored in his last eight fights, closing as a four-digit favored in six of these bouts, together with his lowest chances being -250 when he battled Gerald Washington in July 2017 — a struggle Miller won via eighth-round retirement.

Meanwhile, Joshua has been a favored in each of his past seven scraps and his odds for this battle are right across the average with his largest odds being when he battled Eric Molina (-4000). The tightest odds AJ has had was when he fought Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA and IBO heavyweight straps — that the England native closed at -200 for that bout.

AJ retains three of the four major heavyweight titles and, in the age of 29, he’s in the prime of his career so that it comes as no surprise that he is a big favorite to beat Big Baby, who is making a big jump in competition.

How will this fight perform?
Joshua (-850) is placing his perfect 22-0 record on the line, coming off an impressive seventh-round TKO victory over Alexander Povetkin in September of this past year. Before that hit victory, AJ went to the judges’ scorecards for the first time in his professional career with Joseph Parker, snapping his streak of 20 straight wins by T/KO.

The Brit always pressures his opponents, taking the middle of this ring and slowly backing down them looking to land his strong right hand. Joshua does a fantastic job feeling his selection with his long left jab he works well behind, once more seeking to land his thunderous right. Additionally, he’s got a fantastic ability at judging distances and will sit just outside his competitors’ scope but close enough that he can spring forward with a counterattack.

Miller (+525) is also seeking to remain undefeated in his professional career, with only four conflicts going the distance, among them end in a draw after four rounds in 2013. Of Enormous Baby’s 23 specialist wins, 20 have been by knockout, including his last two. The New York native went the full 12 rounds with Johann Duhaupas in April of last year, ending his string of nine consecutive bouts with knockout victories.

The orthodox fighter uses his big frame to walk down his enemies looking for a chance to shoot his heavy right hand. Big Baby has terrifying knockout power in his hands, but his cries are slow and that he lunges ahead behind his left jab to close the space.

AJ is obviously the athletic boxer and he will have to use that rate and movement to pick apart Miller from the outside before he can locate his openings to perform harm. Meanwhile, Big Baby is going to have to put himself in actual danger to overcome the reach disadvantage he is likely to confront and get in close to let his hands fly. In general, I think that AJ is just going to be too hard to hit and ought to be in a position to handle this battle easily.

Oscars odds: Betting on the Academy Awards is now legal in New Jersey, so I tried it

My anthem lately has been Bradley Cooper at A Star Is Born singing which maybe it is time to let the old ways die, yet here I am, driving over the Ben Franklin Bridge on a Sunday, just like I used to when I wanted a bottle of wine along with the State Stores were closed.
Nowadays, Pennsylvania sells wine on Sunday, along with the gas costs have equalized, but I’m headed to Cherry Hill since you have to physically be in New Jersey to do what I’m doing now — betting on the Oscars, which will be legal this season for the first (and maybe last) time.
I open the software app that I downloaded for this purpose, double-check the Oscar chances, and place $35 on Black Panther to triumph, since specialists have explained to me that it is ineffective to wager to a heavy favorite like Roma, or a prohibitive long shot like Vice, however there is potential value in picking a well-positioned longer-odds candidate such as Black Panther.
I have heard a good deal of about gambling on the Oscars at the past couple of days, but I’ve questions: Why did this betting service just tell me I could not wager more than $35 to triumph?
