Lionel Messi confessed that he doesn’t think Barcelona did”all they could” to bring Neymar back to Spain from Paris Saint-Germain summer time.
Neymar was the subject of a few of the summer’s move sagas, with the Brazilian looking set to return to Catalonia two decades after leaving for a charge.
But, Sky Sports News reported two months ago that PSG’s unwillingness to lower their evaluation, despite Neymar’s offer to pay #17.7m ($20m) towards securing a deal, guaranteed the move failed to materialise.
Messi, who formed an attacking triumvirate that was exhilarating at Barcelona together with Luis along with Neymar Suarez, would have liked to have seen the trio join more.
“I’d have enjoyed for Neymar to get returned,” Messi told Spanish book Sport. “Honestly, I am not positive if Barca did everything they could to sign him but I know it is tough to negotiate with PSG.
“I am not disappointed. We’ve got a stunning squad that could challenge without Ney, even for all.
“Neymar is one of the very finest on earth. Together with his patrons and level, it might have been a major gain for the club.”
Messi is under contract before 2021 but includes a clause added into his deal which could see him leave the Nou Camp for nothing from the end of the season.
On the other hand, the team have reiterated that they remain confident their captain will remain beyond next summer, and Messi himself affirmed that he has no plans.
“Barcelona is my house and I don’t wish to leave,” Messi added. “But I want to acquire. I wish to win the Champions League, it has been a very long time since we won it”
