Two top five defenses in the nation square off this week or would it? Personally, I am a great deal higher on one of these teams than I am about the other. The Penn State Nittany Lions have amazed me this season. We can only judge teams, although in equity, the degree of competition has not been the biggest. Have been dominated. Penn State has the 5th best defense in the nation enabling under 9 points each game this year. This Penn State defense has been a menace for quarterbacks. The best defense theyve played this season was that Sean Clifford wasnt able to find anything moving, just scoring 17 points and in Pittsburgh. They had been lucky to escape that game with a 1 touchdown win. 1 thing we know for sure is the Iowa defense will pose a larger challenge. Even though the Iowa crime couldnt do anything against Michigan, the Wolverines closed down. They kept Shea Patterson through the air with no touchdowns and 1 interception to 147 yards. Iowas defense appears to be as dominant as Penn State, so where is the distinction in this game? For me, its the crime as a whole.
Iowa quarterback hasnt looked as good this year as PSU quarterback Sean Clifford. The question becomes, why? Is there a talent degree disparity? It is little if theres one. The difference was at the line. Penn State has maintained Sean Clifford upright this season, Iowa has not. If you cant maintain your quarterback you cant win a game in college soccer. Last weekend against Michigan, the Iowa offensive line was abysmal. Nathan Stanley was sacked 8 times. It is not going to be any simpler for Iowa this weekend. Is the game on the Street? Yes, its and it is not intelligent to choose the street team in BIG 10 conference matches, but everything Ive seen tells me that Penn State is the better group. Joe Burrow has shot up the Heisman standings and deservedly so. Hes directing an offensive juggernaut at Louisiana State. LSU is currently 2nd in the country in passing yards in passing yards per game. Look no further than the NCAAF chances with this game. You would think the odds would have been between two teams, among those who simply got finished beating a hyped Auburn group, but they havent.
The line has been held by the marketplace . I felt that Florida was the side last week from Auburn. I used tont trust a professional Bo Nix to go into Florida and get the business done, and he has never played that he will face in Death Valley while Trask isnt a freshman. Ordinarily, I dont put some this large in an SEC conference game unless it is Alabama but I truly believe this LSU staff is in the running for a national tournament this year so in terms of the NCAAF choice, I am laying it this week.
