The MLB is put up with a total of fifteen matches for Saturday night. One of the matchups on the board will probably be between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets. These two NL East competitions are to make playoff drives this year, which should help lead to some game on Saturday night. This game will start at approximately 7:10 PM Eastern time on August 24.
The Braves have set a record of 78-52 for this point in the season, which includes them sitting in the first place of the NL East. Atlanta has won six matches in a row to help them expand their lead. The Braves will try and place up their seventh victory in a row with another win on the road against the Mets.
New York is now sitting with a record of 67-61 so far this year. The Mets took a tough loss however before that loss, they’d won five in a row along with fourteen of their past playoff matches. New York is behind in the wild card race, but they can sneak into the postseason, if they keep up this strong finish.
Both of these teams have a lot on the line in this show as they further and try their push into the playoffs. While the Mets are attempting to make up ground in the wild card race, atlanta is more comfortable with their positioning. This show began last night that was strong and that I expect another matchup on Saturday night.
The Mets and the Braves have met in four preceding series before this latest one. 2-2 between the two teams was divided. On the show was hosted by the Braves too, and they also took it 2-1. The string changed to New York, and Atlanta discovered a way to pull off a 2-1 win in that show. The fourth show remained in New York and once again the Braves took the series 2-1.
Last night’s matchup was a really good one. The Braves acquired the run in the sixth with an RBI single from Freddie Freeman. Jacob deGrom responded in the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer. The game took extra innings, but Atlanta was given the 2-1 win by an RBI.
Both of these teams have played nicely against each other this year, however, the Braves hold a 9-5 record . The game of last night required 14 innings to end up, which might cause some fatigue late at the match of Saturday night. I feel that the Mets will come out strong though to bounce back with a win for their home lovers.
The Braves have observed some solid hitting throughout this year. Atlanta continues to be directed by Ronald Acuna Jr. who has set up 155 hits, 36 home runs and 88 RBI’s on the year. Freddie Freeman has had a great season as well, earning 151 strikes, 34 homers, 104 RBI’s and an OPS of .970. Ozzie Albies includes 149 hits, 18 home runs and 68 RBI’s, while Josh Donaldson has 118 hits, 29 homers and 73 RBI’s.
Amed Rosario includes 140 hits, 12 home runs and 54 RBI’s this season for New York. Pete Alonso has been leading this team with 123 strikes, 40 home runs, 97 RBI’s and an OPS of .967. Michael Conforto continues to be a good year, putting up 110 strikes, 27 homers and 76 RBI’s. Wilson Ramos, J.D. Davis, and Todd Frazier all have over 80 strikes and 10 home runs on the year also.
Atlanta has been struck hard with the injury bug late in the summer as they’re overlooking Austin Riley, Dansby Swanson, Brian McCann, Ender Inciarte and Nick Markakis. The Mets are with no Dominic Smith, Robinson Cano, and Jeff McNeil. Despite the injuries the two teams have.
Max Fried will get the start on the mound for the Braves on Saturday. Fried continues to be a good season, putting a record of 14-4 up via 26 games and 24 begins. He has an ERA of 3.84 and a WHIP of both all 1.401 in those matches. Fried’s last start came from the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he allowed eight hits and three runs through five innings.
Zack Wheeler has had a solid season as well for New York and he’ll get the start on Saturday. Wheeler includes a 9-7 record. He has an ERA of 4.40 and a WHIP of 1.266 through these start. Wheeler allowed four hits and four runs, three earned in his last start.
Since he has got a win in five of his last six starts fried has been hot in his previous performances. The Braves will need another strong performance from him if they would like to pull off another win against the Mets. Wheeler has had a good season and will look to avoid his third loss of the year against Atlanta.
The Braves have improved that the better team in their season series against New York this season, but I enjoy the Mets opportunity to bounce back with a win on Saturday. Max Fried has been playing great as of late, but I believe the Mets can give him some trouble and he is because of a difficult start. New York will look to make the most of the holes at Atlanta’s starting lineup to earn a huge win to tie this up series in your home.
BetOnline has got the Mets recorded as a -112 against the money line for Saturday’s matchup. I feel that this is a fantastic lineup as it provides a small edge to the hometown Mets, but retains it to even. Even as a favorite in this game, I believe there’s a good deal of significance on New York. The Mets will start looking for the fans to assist fuel them past the fatigue to earn a win on Saturday.
