Anthony Joshua explained how he obtained advice from Shannon Briggs to look into the spirit of Andy Ruiz Jr..
Ruiz and joshua Jr will today meet until their December 7 rematch in London and have shared just two face-offs this week, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Joshua, who plans to recover the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles that he lost to Ruiz Jr earlier this year, called upon New York veteran Briggs to shout his own”let’s go champ” mantra on Thursday night.
“The champ, Shannon Briggs, advised me to research his spirit,” Joshua exclusively told Sky Sports.
“I know who I am. Because I know I am, I really don’t have to come with this gully vibe, and I am very insecure.
“I really don’t portray a personality. I know thyself. But a man of experience, the champ, told me to explore his spirit.
“That wasn’t for the cameras. It was about me and him.”
Ruiz Jr was 45 minutes late on the press conference in New York on Thursday but Joshua explained:”He is the champhe can come when he’s ready.
“Come combat night once the bell goes there’s nowhere to hide.
“This material is the brain games but the bodily is pending. That is exactly what I look forward to.”
Asked if he had personal animosity with an opponent to do to his very best, Joshua said:”I have seen a whole great deal. I’ve seen people who talk a good game but can not fight. I’ve observed fighters who are in the top five in history’s very humble. I’ve seen Andy Ruiz – .
“I do not need much to get me moving. Andy is a wonderful ambassador. In boxing we anticipate a character to be winner.
“My favorite is’Iron’ Mike Tyson and I think I need to carry that aura, but my admiration comes in a different form. Does Andy Ruiz Jr.
“return to when I fought Wladimir Klitschko – we’d respect and it was an awesome fight.
“This time I really don’t have a belt around my waist. I’m gunning for him”
