Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals MLB Pick – September 14th

We had our wager canceled for the second time as the rain continued the game between the Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins. We had jumped on the under nine and a half conducts, and while both groups had played I still liked the play. However, what can you do, in the words of a single Nuke Laloosh, occasionally you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains.
I will not let the rainy weather put a damper on what has been a great run here in the last week. We have won six from the last eight stakes and are back to the search for value today. For the current selection, we’ll head to Washington DC where the Nationals host the Atlanta Braves.
The Atlanta Braves are in Washington Saturday for game two of a three-game show with the Nationals. The Braves took game only night, shutting out the Nats 5-0, behind a start from Mike Soroka. Soroka pitched six innings and allowed only one hit and no runs. Soroka was able to outduel Nationals ace Max Scherzer who got touched up for three earned runs and picked up the loss for his efforts and lasted five innings.
The triumph was a large one for Atlanta as they are close to locking down the National League East Division title. After last night’s triumph, they hold a nine and a half-game lead over the Nationals for the division crown with only a couple of games left on the schedule. It will all but secure the division title if they are able to win even one of these next two games against Washington.
The Braves are also currently chasing the Los Angeles Dodgers for the very best overall record in the National League, along with the very best seeding and home-field advantage . The Braves path the Dodgers .
Since they now occupy the wild card slot in the NL while the division title is very likely out of reach, they are in position to make the playoffs. The Nats hold two and a half-game lead over the Chicago Cubs for the very first wild card, together with the Brewers, Phillies, Mets, along with Diamondbacks all lurking inside five and a half games back. The Nationals have a difficult remaining schedule as they have games against the Braves, Indians, Phillies, and Cardinals left to the slate, so they will need to find a way to beat good teams should they need to be playing in the postseason.
Starting today for the Nationals is Austin Voth (1-1 4.00 ERA), and also for the Braves it’s Mike Foltynewicz (6-5 5.00 ERA). The game complete over-under is placed in ten runs. The Nationals are -118 home favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM PST in Nationals Park at Washington DC.
Mike Foltynewicz was great for the Braves last year. He needed a sub-three run ERA and won matches. His netted nearly four complete wins above replacement (WAR). However, this year was a fought for its right-hander that is still just twenty-seven-year-old. It got so bad earlier in the year that he was sent to the minors to try and figure out things.
He’s looked much like his old self because his outcomes have been enhanced, after getting called back up into the big leagues. In seven starts since rejoining the group, he is 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA. At the month of September, he is 2-0 with an ERA of just 0.75 in 2 begins. The Braves have won the last ten occasions that Foltynewicz has thrown. I understand that wins aren’t the best stat to track a pitcher’s victory, but at the close of the afternoon, that’s what we are here to do, win baseball games, and Foltynewicz has done a terrific job of giving his team a chance to do just that in each and every start.
Austin Voth needed a cup of java with the Nationals last year, pitching twelve and a third innings with an ERA of 6.57. He has been up and down that season between triple-A along with the series, and has experienced limited success. In six appearances, a number of them begins, his ERA is 4.00. Contrary to Foltynewicz who seems to triumph, the Nationals have been still 1-5 in matches where Voth has pitched this season.
Surprisingly enough, of his six looks, Voth has faced the Braves twice. He has given up four runs, including four home runs and has pitched a combined ten innings. Both games were dropped by the Nationals.
What there is that one a number. The Braves are the better team. They are going to be ten and a half games greater than Washington over this season, As soon as they win tonight. When you have a take a look at the starting pitching matchup, it certainly appears to prefer the Braves. Yeah, Foltynewicz fought in the summer, but he appears to be back on course. And it was the exact same Washington group who rocked Foltynewicz and delivered him to the minors a couple of weeks before, and he’s going to be excited to be able to get his revenge.
And when you examine Voth, this kid isn’t prepared to conquer a talented team. He lost twice and has faced them twice this year. I am not certain why the novels think that he is the sudden going to be a different man than he was after he lost to the Braves. To observe the Nationals as favorites just feels like a number.
I guess that this game is in Washington is what’s creating the Nationals favorites? And while the Nats are much better at home than on the road this year, the Braves have the best road record in the National League, and they aren’t remotely scared of entering Washington and winning games. Last night we saw that, and that is exactly what I see happening today. Give me the Atlanta Braves from the Capital of the Nation as road underdogs in match two now!
