We’re used to watching NFL action on Sundays, correct? Well one Sunday game in Week 3 and it’ll be the final day of Sunday NFL till Week 1 of the regular season. That’s because all teams play on Thursday in Week 4 of the exhibition schedule. The Pittsburgh Steelers see the Tennessee Titans to close out Week 3.
Both just missed the playoffs and ended with nine wins last season. The Titans could have maintained a Wild-Card place if they’d won Week 17 at home vs. Indianapolis, however, the Colts were certainly exceptional and rolled to a 33-17 victory. Starting Titans QB Marcus Mariota overlooked the game and Blaine Gabbert was awful in his location.
Pittsburgh had a Week 17 win over Cincinnati and also a Baltimore property loss to Cleveland to the Steelers to accept the AFC North. Pittsburgh did its project with a victory — with no star receiver Antonio Brown in his final act of defiance using the franchise. However, the Ravens didn’t collaborate with a 26-24 win over the Browns.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is 2-0 this year and a in his preseason career despite not playing beginning QB Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers played with their first two edging Tampa Bay 30-28 in Week 1 and then beating on Kansas City. Going by Tomlin’s history, Big Ben should play with a little on Sunday. Mason Rudolph and joshua Dobbs are competing with most covering the Steelers thinking Rudolph is currently leading.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel is 1-1 this year — Tennessee has yet to acquire a home exhibition game. The Titans were first Week 1 winners from Philadelphia 27-10 and then dropped 22-17 at home to New England last week but led most of the game. It was won by A late TD pass . The Titans first-team crime and mariota has played four series so far for Vrabel but could the first half of this one.
Top running back Derrick Henry has to perform in the preseason because of a calf injury but did come back this week to practice. Not clear if this means he may go in this . No. 1 tight end Delanie Walker broke his arm in Week 1 last year and hadn’t played last week at the Patriots. He even caught a TD pass by Mariota. The Titans’ offense isn’t the same with Walker, the greatest tight end in franchise history. Meanwhile, the Mariota’s backup Ryan Tannehill continues to be great this preseason with a 130.8 passer rating, completing 19 of 27 for 214 yards. Some believe he can steal the job at some stage this season out of Mariota.
These groups played at the 2018 preseason, in addition Pittsburgh however although in Week 3. The Steelers won 16-6. Big Ben, which makes his preseason debut of’18, was 11-for-18 for 114 yards and a touchdown. Mariota was 5-for-8 for 43 yards and a choice and didn’t play with a lot. He missed for that which could have been a long touchdown on the starting drive of Tennessee, wide-open Corey Davis.
As I’m sure they’d like to end that home preseason losing series, we are going to take the Titans here.
