Giants QB Daniel Jones not bothered by New York boos

New York fans in a Yankees baseball game booed Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones when he appeared on the movie board Monday night.
For his role, the first-year signal-caller disregarded the hullabaloo on Tuesday during a conversation on The Rich Eisen Show.
“I certainly don’t pay a whole lot of attention to it,” Jones told Eisen when requested about the boos. “You are conscious of it. I’m focused on what we’re doing here and focused on attempting to practice as well as I could these past six weeks and show some progress over these fourteen days. So, at the end of the day, I’m grateful to be a part of the franchise, get this opportunity and looking forward to keeping it going.”

GM Dave Gettleman noted that a individual has to be mentally tough enough to survive the strain of New York, when talking potentially adding a rookie QB behind Eli Manning. It seems the initial test was passed by Jones in that section. Jones could understand that New York fans aren’t necessarily booing him personally, but rather the seemingly head-scratching series of decisions front office has made, epitomized by his own selection in No. 6 overall. That caveat does not make it any easier for a human.
In terms of the idea that the door opened to a QB rivalry between Jones and Manning after training camp starts, Eisen he has not been told he could have a chance and downplayed the coach’s comments was told by the rookie.
“I don’t know. I believe everybody on our team is trying to demonstrate they can playwith,” Jones said. “And everybody would like to playwith. When trainer said that I feel that is what any coach does at any degree at any game. Like I said, it’s all of our goals veterans, rookie, everyone wants to be on the field. We’ll see how it works out, but I am excited to find a small bit of time off, but I am eager to get back and get to work.”
