Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq was named head coach of the national side on a three-year contract.
Even the 45-year-old, who retired from international cricket will trainer Pakistan in three formats.
He’ll be supported by Waqar Younis, that returns to the national team as bowling coach.
Former head coach Mickey Arthur, who abandoned Pakistan in the end of the contract in August as soon as they failed to achieve the semi-finals of their Cricket World Cup is replaced by misbah.
The selection board explained Misbah as the”unanimous choice” for its empty role and have confirmed he will even take over as the chairman of selectors for its national group.
“it’s extremely hard for me to join a select group of a few of the very best to have coached the Pakistan national sides in the past,” Misbah explained.
“It is an honor and over this, a huge responsibility as we live and breathe cricket.
“I understand expectations are high, but I am completely ready and up for the job otherwise I wouldn’t have thrown my name in the hat for one of the most difficult and coveted roles in Pakistan cricket.”
PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan added:”We are thrilled to have a person of Misbah-ul-Haq’s leadership, ability and stature taking on the obligation of our national team.
“At the same time, I wish to thank all of the local and foreign candidates who provided their services, but the board unanimously place their weight Misbah as it thought he was a perfect fit for its dual assignments owing to his comprehension, wisdom and demands of Pakistan cricket around all the three formats of this game.”
