Khaadem out to bridge gap in Betfair Sprint Cup

Khaadem Calls to bridge the gap between handicap Business and Group 1 level from the Betfair Sprint Cup at Haydock.

The Charlie Hills-trained three-year-old was a colour disappointing in his only previous appearance in Group One firm when seventh at the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot in June.
But a runner-up finish supporting raider Waldpfad at the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury was a step in the ideal direction and he turned out the Stewards’ Cup on his most recent appearance.
With Prix Maurice de Gheest hero awakens a late withdrawal due an extent, and July Cup winner Six Sovereigns taken out on account of this floor along with Commonwealth Cup, Khaadem is a very clear favourite for this weekend’s feature on Merseyside.
“He is doing great. I’m been really pleased with him” said Hills.
“I’ve thrilled with his work, he’s come on a fantastic bit for Goodwood and everyone is extremely happy with him.
“The ground shouldn’t be a problem, I would not have thought. I don’t think there is a enormous amount of rain prediction.”
Khaadem is set to renew rivalry with his Hackwood Stakes conqueror Waldpfad.
The son of Shamardal was last seen finishing second against Ed Walker challenger Royal Intervention at a Group Two in Germany a fortnight ago – and coach Dominik Moser considers Haydock will well suits his bill.
He explained:”Waldpfad is in good shape and we’ve been delighted with his preparation.
“We have been happy with him since his conduct at Baden-Baden. He came out of it well and that has been.
“Soft states will match him and I believe that’ll visit him to good effect. I believe six furlongs is his perfect excursion, but he remains seven furlongs. It needs to be a stiff six-furlong evaluation at Haydock which will fit Waldpfad.”
In the absence of Sovereigns, Aidan O’Brien is based on Thus Perfect and Fairyland, that finished third and 10th respectively in the Nunthorpe final month.
O’Brien stated:”So Perfect is in great form. She appears to be coming forward with each rush and we think she might be fine with an ease from the ground.
“Fairyland is also in great form. She had been loaded early in York, got angry and banged her mind when she pulled , and it was bloated.
“That has been the reason, we think, for this disappointing run, however, she seems to be in good form since.”
There’s a third party Irish challenger in the Form of Aidan Fogarty’s Forever In Dreams, who gained over this course and distance in May prior to completing the runner-up place.
“There’s a little rain because before race day that ought to suit her compared to the rest of them. She’s in wonderful form and it’s all systems go,” said that the Tipperary handler.
“We gave her a small break after Ascot. She deserved it. Therefore we thought we’d do this she’s only a three-year-old filly. She has been in form since. She looks well, so we’re hoping for the very best.
“She has won over the course and space and it is a nice trip from Ireland. It is only a half off the boat to Haydock, therefore it is not a trip for them. That helps.
“She’s taking about the elderly sprinters, but she is there with her chance. The Commonwealth Cup’s kind is currently residing up. She’s got an chance and she is a great price. Hopefully she will be there or thereabouts.”
Kevin Ryan has a group, headed by last year’s runner-up Brando, who chased dwelling market in France a month.
Major Jumbo and length and distance winner Hello Youmzain and commonwealth Cup third complete the coach’s trio.
“They are all in good shape. They will go around the softish ground. It is a difficult race, but we are contented with them moving to it,” said Ryan.
“It was always the plan to wait for Haydock with Hello Youmzain after Ascot. He ran a excellent race after missing the fracture, when third at the Commonwealth Cup.
“Brando conducted a wonderful race in France when the floor was just quick enough for him. He is as good as ever and has since won a Group One plus been runner-up in three more.
“Major Jumbo won very well , but that is another big step he’s got to take.”
James Tate has Invincible Army in good shape and is”very optimistic” of a good run.
“He is in very fine shape. It’s finally nice to be going with him into a Group One on some some soft earth, which we believes he likes. He’s got a pair of cheek-pieces simply to give him a bit of confidence as well,” said the Newmarket trainer.
“Things did not happen for him at Deauville (supporting Advertise). It was floor when he had been challenging, and he acquired a bulge.
“He’s been in excellent form. His final piece of work was the finest he’s done all year, so we’re very hopeful.”
The field is completed by James Fanshawe’s defending champion The Tin Man and the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Dream Of Dreams, that pushed the now-retired Blue Point all the way in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot but turned into a huge disappointment at the July Cup final time.
