Richard Agar was appointed as Leeds Rhinos’ head trainer for the 2020 season with a rolling contract, after spending four weeks as manager.
Agar was in temporary charge since Dave Furner was after Leeds missing 10 of their first 14 Super League games.
The prior France head coach has since guided Leeds to seven wins in their 14 league matches and also the Rhinos are put to finish eighth in the table.
Agar stated:”I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working for this particular group of players and helping them turn the corner this season.
“This really is an outstanding golf club , both on and off the field, and it’s our duty over the forthcoming years to once again challenge for honours over an ongoing period.”
Agar supported to Sky Sports that he held”positive” talks with bar chief executive Gary Hetherington and manager of Baseball Kevin Sinfield after last Sunday’s win in London Broncos, which effectively procured their Super League status.
After Agar’s appointment, Sinfield said:”We’re thrilled to be able to affirm Richard as our new Head Coach.
“The manner in which he’s conducted himself this season, during very challenging circumstances, has shown us that he is the ideal man for the task.
“We’re lucky to be able to call upon one of the most experienced trainers in the sport and importantly someone who understands our players also knows the capacity for this group of young men.”
The 47-year-old began working as the assistant of Furner when James Lowes took over on a temporary basis and abandoned the club union in April when the Australian was sacked.
Agar’s key goal was to avoid.
