The Octagon is Currently at Anaheim, California on Saturday, August 17 for a Piled UFC 241 card.
In the primary event, heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier seems to defend his title in a rematch against Stipe Miocic from their fight in UFC 226 last summer.
The co-main occasion sees fan-favorites Anthony Pettis fight Nate Diaz, although the card also has Yoel Romero vs Paulo Costa. The most important card broadcasts reside on Brackets at 10 p.m. ET.
* All Chances Taken Aug. 12
Cormier (22-1 plus one no-contest) is coming off of a submission win over Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 and now is looking to defend his heavyweight title for the first time. Before that, he knocked out Miocic in UFC 226 to win the belt and turned into a two-division champion.
In Strikeforce,’DC’ was also a stride at which he won the branch’s Grand Prix and will be undefeated at heavyweight with notable wins over Josh Barnett, Antonio Silva, Frank Mir, along with Roy Nelson.
Miocic (18-3) is coming from a knockout loss to Cormier past July and was awaiting to get a rematch ever since. Prior to the loss to’DC’ the Cleveland-native defended his title a record three occasions as he pumped out Junior dos Santos, Alistair Overeem, and defeat Francis Ngannou by decision.
He won the belt at UFC 198 if he pumped out Fabricio Werdum.
The chances suggest it will be a close struggle and a difficult fight to phone, and I’m in this boat. In the first battle, Miocic had victory on his feet using his achieve and jab effectively to stay at range and flame combinations in Cormier. Cormier’s game plan finally won out because he managed to get inside and make it a’filthy’ boxing battle, where he would clinch, throw elbows along with short shouts — the specific punch that knocked Miocic out.
In this struggle, I do not see that happening, since I think it’ll be a really close battle, but both will go the distance. When they do, then it is going to be Daniel Cormier receiving his hands raised as he will use his wrestling inside this battle and his tension to style and also dictate the pace to win a close fight.
Select: Daniel Cormier (-140)
Pettis (22-8) is coming off of the welterweight debut back in March where he knocked out Stephen Thompson in dramatic style. Before he lost to Tony Ferguson at UFC 229 after he had beaten Michael Chiesa at UFC 226. ‘Showtime’ is the former UFC lightweight champion and had struggled to get a?? featherweight before.
Diaz (19-11) has not fought because UFC 202 in August of 2016 where he lost to Conor McGregor. Ever since that time, he has been on the sidelines for unknown motives waiting for a struggle. Prior to the loss to the Irishman, he shockingly beat him by entry at UFC 196.
Another super close struggle to call. Pettis has scrapped far more lately which I give the benefit to given the fact you never know what type of shape someone would be in following three years away from the Octagon. However, the Diaz brothers are always training and in form, and at welterweight, the two fighters ought to be better.
In this fight, for Pettis, it’ll be hard to knock Diaz because he has a very good chin, however, the strength at 170 is untrue. However, many are pointing to Diaz’s pace and cardio that is too much for Pettis which is a good point, since they suit up so equally standing and on the ground. But, I believe Pettis is only slightly better and will receive his hand raised by choice.
Pick: Anthony Pettis (-125)
