London Broncos coach Danny Ward targets Super League return in 2021

London Broncos coach Danny Ward has assured that his side will come back into Super League after dropping their battle for 22, stronger.
Ward’s men defied all expectations by being aggressive during their first time back but it came in this season’s previous game to an end with a defeat at Wakefield.
“They’ve done themselves proud,” said Ward, who will stay with London back at the Championship in 2020. “Unfortunately we just weren’t good enough.
“But it has been outstanding to work with this particular group of players. It’s a small blip in the road and we’ll come back stronger.”
London started the day level on issues with Wakefield, Huddersfield and Hull KR however in bottom place due to their points gap.
They knew they needed to win to avoid the drop but a tightly-contested first half finished 8-0 following a try by 2 goals and Ryan Hampshire to Trinity from Danny Brough.
Hampshire scored again five minutes after the restart and then Reece Lyne added a third to confirm a victory that sent the Broncos, who scored consolation tries after a season in the top flight from Brock Lamb , back to the Championship and Alex Walker.
“We’ve just fallen at the last hurdle and Wakefield were quite good – we kicked us to death and forced us come our own line,” explained Ward.
“It was only one game too for the boys and we’re completely devastated.
“But just imagine a learning experience for us all – that I believe we have all got better as the weeks have gone .
“There were many ups and downs and it’s been an absolute roller coaster using enormous performances and a few not so good.
“We’re proud of how we’ve gone about our business and the way we’ve improved because the majority of the side come up in the Championship.
“They’ve proved they can play Super League week in and week out, but finally we neglected in what we set out to do.
“You will find plenty of advantages, but in the end of the afternoon we have been relegated and it is absolutely dreadful for the lads.”
He expects that the Broncos can easily regain their chair at the very top table, although A raft of London gamers are expected to leave, including skipper Jay Pitts who will join Wakefield.
“It demonstrates how competitive it has been this season but at the close of the day that the worst team has to go down and that’s us, irrespective of how many wins we’ve acquired,” said Pitts.
“It is just devastating but I’m so pleased with the attempts. This season what we’ve done is very remarkable.
“Hopefully it’s a stepping stone for London rugby league to perform hard to get back .”
