After Dublin finished the’drive for five’, we select our team of this championship for 2019.
An All-Star hasn’t been received by the Parnells guy since 2013 despite being the standout goalkeeper of this decade. That is certainly going to change this year. His kick-outs were characteristically on stage all seasons, while he left some magnificent saves against Kerry in both matches.
The go-to guardian of the Kingdom, O’Sullivan was notable. The Dingle man has kept many opponents scoreless, and was crucial since the final was reached by Kerry.
A string of understated yet efficient performances out of McNamee should see him pick up a primary award.
The Cuala man saved his best to continue – putting in two massive performances against Kerry. Although he was watertight throughout the play, fitzsimons did a project nullifying David Clifford at the second-half of their drawn game.
Keogan was in what was a hugely successful 2019 year for Meath key. The Royals backed up their Division 1 advertising with a 8s berth, also didn’t look out of their depth at any given point. He was industrious in the defence and attack, and his showing against Clare at the qualifiers was perhaps his standout screen.
Durcan carried out a comprehensive task for James Horan, and was tasked with nullifying a number of the best players of the country this year. He also limited the influence of Shane Walsh, Ryan McHugh along with Jack McCaffrey in large games, and scored 0-8 from play.
As he bagged 1-3 From the final that is drawn, he was immense. Since the Dubs closed five the prior Footballer of the Year was instrumental. The Clontarf guy is deserving of another All-Star, and was his customary self down and up on the wing.
Fenton had a terrible day at the office however, bounced back into style. The Year’s reigning Footballer delivered some strong performances during the year, spearheading the wins over Roscommon Cork and Mayo.
Moran’s contributions in the Killarney triumph over Mayo were perhaps sufficient to secure an All-Star simply. His prowess was key for the Kingdom, and the Kerins O’Rahilly’s man’s source into the inside forwards was topnotch. The Kerry bill was headed by him against Dublin in both matches.
O’Callaghan took another step upward in 2019, including new elements to his game. He had been a true target from the Dublin inside line, revealing the harm he can do in particular in the wins Roscommon and Mayo. The Cuala guy is in the combination to the Footballer of the Year award.
The Kenmare star came of age. Kicking at is no mean accomplishment, and he seems like a player who is only going to get. It is just shaded by him before Michael Murphy of Donegal.
He had been a candidate for Footballer of the calendar year, this was his wake up throughout the entire year for the Kingdom. He proceeded to place in telling demonstrations, also awakened Peter Keane’s side from a hole at the Munster final. His interjection from the second-half from Tyrone swung the match in the favour of Kerry. He did not figure out how to bring that level in the final, but is still deserving of an All-Star. He shades it before Brian Howard.
In what was just his second season at senior intercounty football, the Fossa superstar continued his remarkable form. When he was needed all summer, with some performances, the 20-year-old stood up.
The best scorer in the championship, McShane scored 3-48 in nine matches. For areas of the year, he was unplayable, and is among the first titles on this team sheet.
The Kilmacud Crokes man was hugely effective, also found himself in more offensive positions this year. Perhaps the of the Year.
