NHL training camps are in full gear and the exhibition period is well underway. Before you know it, we will have regular season NHL hockey to dive right into to complement the start of the NFL season and MLB postseason action.
It is a fantastic time.
The NHL regular season opens upward on October 3rd, and we’re beginning to see some futures bets pop up, one of which will be the normal season point total over/under for every single NHL club.
This can be a tough exercise to handle, but it is also an enjoyable one and one that keeps us involved in the sport for the full 82-game campaign. This will be a part one of a four-part series, broken down by division, predicting the stage total/over under for each NHL club.
Let us take a look at the Atlantic Division point totals and predict an over or an below, together with the totals and chances courtesy of TopBet.
Boston Bruins LogoBoston Bruins
2017-18 Point Total: 112
2018-19 Point Complete Over/UNDER: 102.5
When I was putting up do this bit, I had the Bruins definitely falling off by their lofty 112 points last season, and that I was ready to forecast the UNDER. However, with a point total of 102.5, I have very little choice except to take the over, although I do not expect it to be by much.
While Boston went on a second-half tear last season, they still managed to rack up those 112 points while dealing with injuries to players like Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Charlie McAvoy, Brandon Carlo and David Backes. Their best scorer Brad Marchand also missed 14 games due to suspension/injury.
If we are able to presume far better fortune in the wellness department this season, I believe that the Bruins easily crack the century mark in point and will get nearer to 105 compared to 100. They have one of the very best lines in the NHL with Marchand, Bergeron and David Pastrnak all of notching 30-goal campaigns last season.
Boston Bruins – Torey Krug
They have the still-effective Zdeno Chara on the blueline also as one of the game’s top offensive blueliners in Torey Krug. Charlie McAvoy is among the greatest young defensemen in the match and you could pit Boston’s projected bottom pair of John Moore and Kevan Miller against some other five-six tandem from the NHL.
Tuukka Rask jumped throughout the next half of this season but stumbled a little from the playoffs. Nevertheless, he is playing one of the clubs in the Eastern Conference. In reality, Boston was the best defensive team in the east last season with just 2.57 goals against per game.
They’re still a true good all-round club, therefore chalk me up for the OVER 102.5.
