Part-owner Garth Broom has confirmed Native Rivers season is going to probably be geared around a fourth tip in the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Winner of the blue riband event in 2018 after having a memorable tussle with Might Bite, after defending his crown in March the Colin chestnut had finished third behind Sizing John and conducted with credit to complete fourth supporting Al Boum Photo.
Plans are liquid to the first half of the effort, with races like also the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow and the Betfair Chase at Haydock – he won three decades ago – under consideration for its nine-year-old.
But there isnt any doubt about where relations wish to find yourself.
Broom said:He looks very well, but we are not likely to hurry him this season. I dont understand where hell begin at his stage.
I dont think theres much point going for the King George as he does not really like the course in Kempton and we are toying with the Welsh National. Until the horse is high-value along with the ground stems right, we are not making any firm plans.
I know that he would need to give a good deal of weight away from the Welsh National, but the monitor suits him. Ireland (Savills Chase at Leopardstown) is an option and were keeping an open mind.
What we need him for are the Denman Chase at Newbury and the Gold Cup following Christmas. Im not saying he would win the Gold Cup, but I would hope he would run well inside as he has been placed inside three times.
He never lets us down and always runs his race.
