falling at Far Hills in the Grand National on Saturday 19, wicklow Brave sadly lost his life.
The Willie Mullins-trained 10-year-old that is notable has been on the point of adding a second notable win to his list when he dropped in the last with the race in his mercy.
The Brain Power of nicky Henderson went on to land the spoils.
A winner of 17 of the 59 races, he also won the St Leger beneath Frankie Dettori at the 2015 County Hurdle, 2016 and the 2017 Punchestown Champion Hurdle at a notable career.
A statement posted on the Far Hills Twitter accounts read:”Wicklow Brave fell at the last fence of the Grand National. NJ State Veterinarian Dr. Stacey Romano reported that he sustained a fractured right shoulder and has been transported to the stable area, where he was euthanized.”
Far Hills race assembly chairman Guy Torsilieri stated:”We are unhappy to have lost such a champion today. Our thoughts are with all both the racing community, their relations and the lovers and Wicklow Brave’s owners. It was heartbreaking for all people.”
