Cori Gauff has the temperament to manage her”very significant expectations” following an astonishing introduction to the elite of women’s knee, based on Patrick Mouratoglou.
\nThe 15-year-old emerged to prominence with her run to the fourth round at Wimbledon, in her Grand Slam debut, before she reached the next round in the US Open earlier this month.
\nGauff can perform a maximum of a further five championships before her 16th birthday in March under the Women’s Tennis Association’s (WTA) age qualification rule, introduced in the mid-1990s.
\nThe limitations have received increased scrutinyalso Mouratoglou insists that the teenage sensation needs to have the chance to play professional tennis.
\n“Age is a number,” Mouratoglou told Sky Sports, when asked just the way Gauff will cope with her improved consciousness and requirements.
\n“This is why I don’t like this rule. Some folks are immature at 25, some people are mature at 15. I believe’Coco’ is very mature for her age”
\n“She has very significant expectations,” he added.
\nSince she was 10 mouratoglou, that has been operating with Gauff in his academy in the south of France, considers that the American has the capacity and personality to flourish from the women’s game – unlike Grand Slam champions.
\n“On the flip side, coping with that kind of pressure is very tough for everybody,” Mouratoglou said.
\n“We’ve observed these last two years, players acquire a Grand Slam and suddenly disappear being unable to take care of the pressure.
\n“However, I believe she is doing very well with pressure because she came into the US Open with tremendous stress and she did well.
\n“We [at the academy] will help her for sure, we will help her, but she is also helping herself quite well. She is amazing.”
\nGauff defeated five-time Wimbledon winner Venus Williams, one of the childhood heroes, at the very first round in July and then declared her desire to be the”greatest” participant .
\nMouratoglou has worked as the coach since June 2012 and the Frenchman sees similar personality traits between the 2 players of Serena Williams, who is just one short of matching Margaret Court’s all time tally of 24 Grand Slam singles titles.
\n“First of all I do not compare players. I won’t ever compare anyone with Serena who’s the greatest of all time,” he explained.
\n“[But] with the psychology you will find items in common because Coco believes like a petit winner and this is very rare. She believes in herselfshe is driven and she actually believes she can take action.
\n“Each of the young players state that they wish to be # 1 but they do not really mean . If they play they are shedding. ‘Coco’ is not like this.
\n“She played for the very first time in her life on a large court at Wimbledon and that she beat Venus Williams. She played with her idol round, she overcome against her she confirmed and showed so many things.
\n“Certainly she has the mindset of someone who’s over [just] a very great tennis player”
