On Monday, we presented a survey showing that Jody Wilson-Raybould was currently competitive as an Independent candidate in the field of Vancouver Granville. These days, we have a look at fellow Independent Jane Philpott’s district of Markham-Stouffville, a suburb of Toronto situated in the crucial GTA region of Ontario.
\nIn 2015, Philpott won the recently created district of Markham-Stouffville by six points over her Conservative opponent in a clear two-way race between the Liberals and Conservatives (the Greens and NDP won a combined eight percent of the popular vote). It would therefore be natural to put forth the hypothesis that, with Philpott running as an Independent following fall, a split Liberal-Philpott vote could open up the chance for a somewhat simple Conservative win.
\nBut a new exclusive survey commissioned by 338Canada and conducted by Mainstreet Research. Com indicates the race in Markham-Stouffville could be believed. It also shows Philpott facing long odds to win re-election, sitting well back of their front-running Liberals and second-place Conservatives.
\nThe poll collected voting intentions of 601 voters in Markham-Stouffville and was conducted between May 30 and May 29. This really is a sample with a margin of error of ??4 percent, 19 times out of 20. The poll report is available here.
\nTo the question:”When the national election were held today, which party would you vote ?” Respondents were given the following choices:
\nLiberal, led by Justin Trudeau Conservative NDP Green Separate candidate Jane Philpott<\/p>\n
